Our Lady of Guadalupe community family photo scanning day to be held Sept. 29

AmigosNAZ-September-Photo-Scanning-DayFLAGSTAFF — Flagstaff Nuestras Raíces, in cooperation with other community groups, will present a “Community Historic Family Photo Scanning Day” from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Cultural Center — “The Basement,” 224 So. Kendrick St., Flagstaff.

Please bring print copies of your family photos related to activities at Our Lady of Guadalupe (Christenings, Weddings, Easter and Posada celebrations, quinceañeras, etc.) or other historic or family events in the Hispanic community in Flagstaff so we can scan them for possible use in future photo, video exhibits and a proposed historic mural in the basement.

Camp Moreno on Sept. 14-15FLAGSTAFF — Applications are now open for the second annual “¡Camp Moreno!” to be held Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 14-15 at Sunset Crater National Monument, O’Leary Group campground.

Designed to promote the use and enjoyment of natural areas by Latino youth, the program is presented by the Alpino Foundation in cooperation with Flagstaff Area Monuments and the coordination of the Coconino Hispanic Advisory Council (CHAC).

You are invited to spend a family weekend in contact with nature. No membership fees required. Camping equipment included.

Coconino County Community Services will present “Basic Business Empowerment — Begin Your Business and Be Your Own Boss!’ beginning Sept. 14 at the Coconino County Health and Community Services Building, 2625 N. King St., Flagstaff.

The program includes two Saturday classes from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 8 Tuesday classes from 6 to 9 p.m., with classes continuing through Nov. 12.
