CHAC to hold next meeting on Nov. 12

cropped-cchac-masthed.jpgFLAGSTAFF — The Coconino County Hispanic Advisory Council (CHAC) will hold its next meeting at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12 at the Coconino County Administration Building, second floor conference room, 219 E. Cherry Ave., Flagstaff, Arizona.

CHAC serves as an official liaison and communications link between the Hispanic community and the Coconino County Board of Supervisors, so please bring any concerns you may have about equal education opportunities, fair employment, juvenile justice, political representation and other issues.

CHAC is a supporter of the Camp Moreno Project, Ballet Folklórico de Colores — Flagstaff, Flagstaff Nuestras Raíces, the Hispanic Convocation at Northern Arizona University, the Sunnyside Neighborhood Association of Flagstaff and other organizations.

Free ‘Concert in the Park’ presented by Hermosa Vida to be held July 9 in Flagstaff

JulyFLAGSTAFF —  The City of Flagstaff and Hermosa Vida will sponsor a free outdoor concert from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 9 at Bushmaster Park, 3150 N. Alta Vista, Flagstaff.

The event is part of a series of concerts on Wednesdays which run through July.

The shows feature local artists, representing several music genres including rock, folk, bluegrass, reggae, celtic, and blues.

Bring your lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy an evening of live music and fresh air in the beautiful setting of our mountain city, organizers reported.

Feast Day to be celebrated Dec. 11-12 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Flagstaff

OLG Feast DayFLAGSTAFF — Flagstaff Nuestras Raíces will participate in a series of events in December to celebrate the progress of the renovation project in the basement of  Our Lady of Guadalupe.

The group will participate in the traditional Our Lady of Guadalupe Procession the early evening of  Wednesday, Dec. 11. The procession will begin at Our Lady of Guadalupe, 224 So. Kendrick St., Flagstaff, and continue to San Francisco de Asis Catholic Church, 1600 E Route 66.

On Dec. 12, Las Mananitas will be held at at 6 a.m., followed by the Rosary at 6:30 a.m. and a Mass at 7 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe. Coffee and pan dulce will be provided after the Mass by Flagstaff Nuestras Raíces.

A community potluck will then be held at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12 at Our Lady of Guadalupe.

Applications open for Sept. 14-15 Camp Moreno in Flagstaff

Camp Moreno on Sept. 14-15FLAGSTAFF — Applications are now open for the second annual “¡Camp Moreno!” to be held Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 14-15 at Sunset Crater National Monument, O’Leary Group campground.

Designed to promote the use and enjoyment of natural areas by Latino youth, the program is presented by the Alpino Foundation in cooperation with Flagstaff Area Monuments and the coordination of the Coconino Hispanic Advisory Council (CHAC).

You are invited to spend a family weekend in contact with nature. No membership fees required. Camping equipment included.
